Adding Watermarks

Watermarks are semi-transparent text placed across pages. For example, the text "DRAFT" can be printed across all pages.

Adding Watermarks

Select Edit Document Watermarks to open the Watermarks window.

Enter the Text for the watermark. A watermark can only consist of one line of text.

Click OK to add the watermark to the document.

Formatting Watermarks

You can freely customize the appearance of the watermark. Under Appearance, you can select the Font, Size, Style, Color, and Opacity. You can also specify an Angle for the clockwise rotation of the watermark.

If you check the Stretch option, the text will be displayed as large as possible.

Under Position, select the Align to page orientation option so that the watermark is aligned the same way on rotated pages as it is on non-rotated pages.

Working with Page Ranges

By default, a watermark is printed on all pages of the document (Pages All).

If you selected a specific page or multiple pages in the Page Preview in the Sidebar before opening the Watermark window, you can limit the watermark to those pages by selecting the Pages Selected page(s) option.

Alternatively, you can select the Pages Pages option and enter individual page numbers. You can also enter one (e.g., "2-5") or multiple (e.g., "2-5, 9, 11-12") page ranges. To place the watermark only on even or odd pages, enter "even" or "odd."

Note that page numbers in the PDF document may not start at one. For example, the document begins with pages i, ii, and iii, followed by pages 1-20. To print pages i-iii and 1-5, enter the range from i to 5.

Multiple Watermarks

You can define multiple watermarks. This is useful, for example, if you want one watermark to appear on some pages and another on others.

The list at the top of the Watermarks window shows all the watermarks you've defined. Select an entry from the list to edit its properties. You can add additional watermarks using the Plus button.

Removing Watermarks

Select Edit Document Watermarks to open the Watermarks window. Select the watermark you want to delete from the list at the top. Click the Delete button (minus symbol) next to the drop-down list and then select OK. The watermarks created by PDF Annotator will now be removed from the entire document.
