Adding Page Headers & Footers
Headers and footers are text that are placed across pages. For example, you can display a document title as a header at the top of all pages, or as a footer at the bottom of all pages.
Adding Page Headers/Footers
Choose Edit
Document
Headers & Footers to open the Headers & Footers window.
Enter the Text for the header or footer. Headers/footers can only contain one line of text each. However, you can define multiple headers as described below, positioning one each in the left, center, and top right corners.
Click OK to add the header or footer to the document.
Formatting Page Headers/Footers
You can freely customize the appearance of the header/footer. Under Appearance, you can select the Font, Size, Style, Color, and Opacity.
You can rotate the text upside down using the Rotate Text by 180° option.
You can also choose exactly where on each page the header/footer should be placed. Under Position, you can select the Horizontal position from the Left or Right, or check Center to center the text. Select the Vertical position from the Top or Bottom, or check Center to center the text vertically. Instead of entering exact values here, you can simply move the text outlined in red in the preview on the right side of the window.
Under Position, select the Align to page orientation option so that the text is aligned the same way on rotated pages as it is on unrotated pages.
Working with Page Ranges
By default, a header/footer is printed on all pages of the document (Pages
All).
If you selected a specific page or multiple pages in the Page Preview in the Sidebar before opening the Headers & Footers window, you can limit the header/footer to those pages by selecting the Pages
Selected page(s) option.
Alternatively, you can select the Pages
Pages option and enter individual page numbers. You can also enter one (e.g., "2-5") or multiple (e.g., "2-5, 9, 11-12") page ranges. To place the header/footer only on even-numbered or odd-numbered pages, enter "even" or "odd."
Note that page numbers in the PDF document may not start at one. For example, the document begins with pages i, ii, and iii, followed by pages 1-20. To print pages i-iii and 1-5, enter the range from i to 5.
Multiple Headers/Footers
You can define multiple headers/footers. This allows you to place different text in each position (left/center/right, top/center/bottom). You can also use the page ranges described above to display one header on some pages and another header on others.
The list at the top of the Headers & Footers window shows all the watermarks you've defined. Select an entry from the list to edit its properties. You can add additional watermarks using the Plus button.
Removing Headers/Footers
Choose Edit
Document
Headers & Footers to open the Headers & Footers window. Select the header or footer you want to delete from the list at the top. Click the Delete button next to the drop-down list and then select OK. The headers or footers created by PDF Annotator will now be removed from the entire document.
