Settings: Tools, Properties

Typically, each tool has its own set of properties. Changing a property in one tool doesn't affect the same property in another. However, certain tools and properties can be synchronized, so you can, for example, change a color only once and then immediately use the same color with all tools.

Separate Properties for Each Tool

Select Extras Settings Tools Properties and choose Separate to be able to set all properties (e.g. Color, Line Width) separately for each tool (e.g. Pen, Line).

For example, if you change the Color of the Pen tool, the new color applies only to the Pen, not, for example, the Line tool. Each tool has its own separate set of properties. This is the default setting.

Synchronizing Tool Properties

Select Extras Settings Tools Properties and choose Synchronous to synchronize these tool properties:

For the tools Pen, Text, Line, Arrow, Rectangle, Ellipse, Polygon, Dimension and Formula, changes of the properties Color and Line Width will always be applied synchronously to all these tools.

Also, for Line and Arrow, property Line Style, for Rectangle, Ellipse and Polygon, properties Fill Color and Opacity will be applied synchronously.

All other tools and properties behave as if set to Separate. In particular, the properties of the Marker tool are never synchronized.

For example, if you change the Color of the Pen tool, the new color also applies to the Line, Arrow, and Rectangle tools. However, changing the color of the Marker tool has no effect on other tools.
